Game-Based Learning
The Chronicle of Higher Education recently published an article based on the 2011 Horizon Report produced by the New Media Consortium and Educause, which details technology trends to watch for 2011. Trends to watch include: game-based learning, learning analytics, mobile devices, augmented reality, gesture-based learning, and electronic books. Take a look: 6 Top Tech Trends on the Horizon for Higher Education.
Game-based learning is referenced in the report to be two to three years away. Fortunately, for our McGraw-Hill Connect community of users, game-based learning is available NOW through LearnSmart, the premier adaptive learning product proven to assess a student’s knowledge of course content through a series of questions, intelligently pinpointing concepts the student does not understand and mapping out a personalized study plan for success. LearnSmart prepares students through its gaming environment, allowing instructors to focus valuable class time on higher-level concepts.
